Biden aims to create climate, equity office at HHS

President Biden’s spending request asks Congress to spend big on climate change within the Department of Health and Human Services — again emphasizing environmental justice.
The initial budget plan released this morning would create an Office of Climate Change and Health Equity within HHS to “focus on decreasing effects of climate change on vulnerable populations.”
Though the White House isn’t requesting a specific amount of funding for the new office, it would come out of the $131.7 billion Biden is requesting for HHS in fiscal 2022, which represents a more than 23% increase over enacted spending levels for fiscal 2021…
