July 15, 2020 Webinar: Air Quality and COVID-19
Connections, Health Impacts, and Racial Disparities
Wednesday, July 15, 2020 | 3:00 PM Central Daylight Time
Recent research suggests that individuals who have faced long-term exposure to fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) face higher rates of COVID-19 illness and mortality, and it is clear that those with underlying health conditions face even greater risk. Research has also shown that people of color, particularly African Americans, face greater than average risks from the health impacts of both air pollution and COVID-19. This webinar will present the findings from the public health, data science, and local government perspectives, and will include a discussion of the research-public policy collaborations underway to understand these interconnected health risks, as well as efforts to mitigate them.
