2022 Climate and Health Equity Fellowship (CEHF) Application


The purpose of this fellowship is to increase the diversity of physician leaders in climate and health equity from racial/ethnic groups that are underrepresented in medicine (URiM)*, Underrepresented in medicine means those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.

*as defined by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Fellows are expected to
~Be a member of one or more of the Consortium’s member medical societies. A complete list may be found on the Consortium’s website at: https://medsocietiesforclimatehealth.org
~Complete the Climate and Health Equity Fellowship (CHEF) program able to effectively promote equitable- and health-focused climate mitigation and adaptation policy solutions.
~Meet in-person for a two-day (Saturday – Sunday) program orientation expected in March.
Clear your calendars to be able to participate in all semi-monthly virtual meetings, two half days per month of each month from March through November to obtain knowledge- and skills-based training on climate change and health equity. These days/times are the 2nd Fridays, 2:00pm – 6:00pm ET (11:00am – 4:00pm PT), and the 4th Thursday evenings, 5:00pm – 9:00pm ET (for those in the eastern/southern/midwest group) or 5:00pm – 9:00pm PT (for those in the western group).
~Complete readings and preparations between meetings to allow for active participation in meetings.
~Increase engagement in advocacy activities (e.g. speaking with policymakers, writing op-eds or letters to the editor, participating on state climate action coalitions, recording health voices videos, preparing testimony, etc.).
~Complete engagement assignments and Capstone project.
~Provide on-going feedback, end of program evaluation and post program evaluation.
~No more than one unexcused absence or three excused absences.
~Will be paid $2,500 quarterly for meeting the expectations as outlined for a total of $10,000.
