Patricia Cochran, Executive Director of the Alaska Native Science Commission and advisory board member for Health and Climate Solutions will moderate a discussion on Indigenous local traditional knowledges, climate change, and health.

Participants include James Skeet, founder of Covenant Pathways and Spirit Farms, Larry W. Campbell, Community Health Specialist for the Swinomish Community Environmental Health Program, and Jacqueline Qataliña Schaeffer, Senior Project Manager at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.

The webinar will include discussion of:

  • Definitions of “Indigenous local traditional knowledges” and how these knowledges provide insights for equitable solutions to health and climate challenges.
  • Lessons from Indigenous populations for rural communities across the U.S. relating to agriculture and subsistence farming in an unstable climate.
  • The role of policy to advance health and climate solutions on tribal lands and government-to-government relations in these policy areas.
