Tuesday, December 19, 2023 | Virtual | 3:00 PM ET

Join the Sustainability and Climate Action in Academic Medicine Community for its next collaborative meeting on Tuesday, December 19th, at 3 pm ET for a discussion on how sustainability professionals and faculty can partner with medical and health professions students, residents, graduate students, and other learners to accelerate climate action at our institutions.

Featured participants include:

  • Savita Potarazu, a 4th-year MD student at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Savita is the current Executive Chair of Medical Students for a Sustainable Future (MS4SF). At GW, Savita co-leads the newly established Climate Change and Human Health MD Program curriculum theme. Savita is applying to OBGYN for residency.
  • Stella Protopapas, a 4th-year MD student at Indiana University School of Medicine. Along with a fellow student at IUSOM, Stella was the 2022 winner of the Emerging Physician Leader Award, offered by Health Care Without Harm to recognize medical students and residents for their leadership in sustainable health care. Stella also helped start IUSOM’s chapter of MS4SF and participated in the Planetary Health Report Card.

The students will discuss their efforts in sustainability at their institutions and how they partnered with staff, faculty, and leadership to achieve results. They will share lessons that could enable students and professionals to effectively partner to advance sustainability.
